SEAN McALISTER: "Sebring was looking pretty difficult from the first couple practices. I was pretty far off the pace but working on the right things and making changes which landed us in P3 and P4 in qualifying for Race 1 and Race 2. In Race 1, we had really good pace for the first 20 minutes and were solidly in P3, but the car started to fall off pretty heavily and I was losing time in quite a few spots. I eventually got passed and finished fourth. For Race 2, we had a really good car but the smallest error in the hairpin [Turn 7] on Lap 2 caused me to spin and I ended up in last place, finding myself having to work my way back through the field. I was able to run the same pace as the leaders and had the third fastest lap of the race. I was able to gain a bunch of positions back, ending in P7 overall." "This year went amazing! We ended up 3rd in the championship!! We set a plan in stone at the beginning of the year and stuck with it, getting better and better with each outing. We improved immensely from the previous year of driving where I had no podiums and my best finish was a fourth. This year we were on the podium multiple times and had a bunch of solid, consistent races which lead to securing the 3rd place trophy for the overall season championship. I can’t thank the entire JDX Racing crew enough for all of their hard work, Kevin King and the entire Byers Porsche family for their continued support, Shell TapUp and my dad for making all of this possible!"
JEREMY DALE, MANAGING PARTNER/JDX RACING: "Another year of racing is behind us and 2020 has been quite a year, to say the least. We went into the season back in March with three confirmed cars for the season and when COVID hit, we dropped to one confirmed car. Our focus became solely on Sean McAlister and we’re very pleased with the season we had. Sean developed exceptionally well throughout the season and did a phenomenal job, resulting in a third place in the season championship, which we’re very proud of." "We didn’t expect to even be racing at Sebring in 2020, but due to schedule realignments IMSA moved our season finale to run with the rescheduled 12 Hour race. We got to test at Sebring the week prior but that test was mostly in the wet due to Hurricane Eta coming through Florida at that time. Coming into the race weekend, we had limited running in the dry but Sean got up to speed quickly which resulted in a great qualifying, starting third for Race 1. We just missed the podium in Race 1 as we struggled with the long-run pace, but we addressed it and made corrections for Race 2. Unfortunately, Sean had a minor spin in Turn 7, which put him back to last place and he had to fight his way back through the field, finishing seventh." "I sincerely want to thank Sean McAlister and everyone at JDX Racing for sticking it out through this bizarre season, doing a great job, never giving up and staying safe for themselves and their families. The support we get from our partners at Byers Porsche, Shell TapUp and Renier Construction are critical to our success and we couldn't do this without them. We are really looking forward to 2021 and the debut of Porsche Carrera Cup North America."
