  • Henderson has Steep Learning Curve but Adapts and Finishes Weekend Strong

SEAN McALISTER: "We had a solid run at VIR this past weekend. Even with no qualifying session on Saturday, we ended up starting 4th based on championship points. I had a bad start due to being a little late on the green flag, so I lost a position going into Turn 1, but kept a consistent pace while in 5th place, figuring out the track and my opponents. Eventually, I moved up to 4th because of a mistake by guys battling up ahead of me. A late race mistake by me at Oak Tree put me softly in the wall and by the time I was out of the wall, I ended up losing two spots and had to settle for a 6th place finish." "In Race #2, we started fourth again and my pace was way better for the duration of the race. After a pass around the outside in Turn 1, I was in third position, but several laps later, I had a big brake lockup going into Turn 14 which damaged my left front tire and I ended up getting passed on the last lap going into Turn 14, putting me back in 4th place, where I finished." BRIAN HENDERSON: "It was an awesome experience to compete in my first Porsche GT3 Cup race at VIR, my home track. I have more experience at VIR than any other track, so I could solidly focus on learning to drive the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car. The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car is unlike anything I’ve ever driven and was a beast on track! The JDX Racing team helped me get up to speed quickly and I was able to get involved in some great on-track battles right away. I started Race #1 from the rear of the field (13th) due to qualifying being canceled, but I got a great start and quickly moved up a few positions, finishing 9th. I learned so much in that 45 minutes and I was able to apply that knowledge to Race #2, where I started 11th and finished 9th. This being my first time in the Porsche GT3 Cup series, I was happy with the results. It was great working with everyone at JDX Racing and I am grateful they helped me gain so much knowledge from the experience."

JEREMY DALE, MANAGING PARTNER/JDX RACING: “VIR is a fun and challenging racetrack that we look forward to racing at every year. This year we were fortunate enough to have Brian Henderson join us for his first Porsche GT3 Cup race and he did a great job. We were able to test on Monday and Tuesday of race week with Sean and Brian, which translated into some valuable track time as we got rained out of Practice 2 on Friday afternoon and Qualifying on Saturday morning. We went into both races with limited running but we were confident with our setups.” “In Saturday’s Race #1, Sean started 4th and did a great job throughout the race but had a little mistake at the end that cost him a couple positions. Brian started 13th and had a baptism by fire! It was a new experience for him with the Porsche Cup car and Race #1 was a full green flag race with no yellow flags to catch a breath. On top of that, he had to adapt to a changing car throughout the race.” “Sunday’s Race #2, Sean started 4th, Brian started 11th. Brian did a great job mixing it up with guys around him but a small mistake took the front splitter off the car and that really affected the handling of the car and hurt his pace. Sean started 4th again and made a great move on a late restart to jump into third before Riley Dickinson passed him pushing him back to forth. I felt terrible for Sean. He worked so hard all week and drove exceptionally well every session and to see him lose his first podium was heartbreaking.” “We’re going to do some testing at Road Atlanta before the next round at Road Atlanta in just a couple weeks.”
